Principles
As above, so below.
ORIGIN OF VISION
We design from imagination down, not from deconstruction up. On June 4, 2023, a complete product vision was experienced by Matthew Flansburg. It was not assembled step by step, but seen in full—like a memory from the future.
The vision was simple: A fully autonomous system that makes the cultivation of mushrooms and living ecosystems effortless.
Business Principles
- Do Good
- Surround Yourself with People of Like Values
- Help & Heal Others
- Defend Yourself Without Weapons
Slow Tech
Technology should not accelerate life beyond our ability to experience it.
Slow Tech is designed to bring awareness back into the present moment.
It favors intentional processes over speed, and presence over efficiency.
The FOREST FLOOR Model 101 is an example of Slow Tech.
Its systems operate gradually and continuously, allowing life to unfold at a natural pace.
It is designed to bring calm, rhythm, and quiet focus into a space.
Buy It For Life
- We design for long-term ownership.
-
Model 101 is modular, serviceable, and built to evolve over time.
Components can be upgraded, repaired, and maintained by the owner. - Help & Heal Others
- Defend Yourself Without Weapons
Join Community
FOREST FLOOR is not just a product. It is a shared system. Our community includes therapists, growers, mycologists, chefs, and experimenters.Together, they share grows, research, techniques, and genetics.Community is not an accessory to the product. It is part of how the product is developed. Those who participate gain direct access to the evolution of the system itself. Help us build prototypes v9.0 and 10.0.
DESIGN PRINCIPLES
We design from vision first.Performance and experience are defined before constraints are introduced. We study what people truly want, then build systems that deliver it with clarity.FOREST FLOOR is an example of manifestation through design. An idea seen clearly enough can be brought into physical form.
Psilocybin Blue
Psilocybin blue is a natural phenomenon.
When certain mushroom tissue is exposed to air, oxidation occurs, producing a distinct blue color.
This reaction signals transformation—an invisible compound becoming visible through interaction.
FOREST FLOOR adopts this color as a reflection of that process.
A hidden system, revealed through presence and change.
GEOMETRY
Cube
The cube is the primary structure. It is one of the fundamental geometric forms, historically associated with stability and earth.
Hexagon
The hexagon is the projection of the cube into two dimensions—the shadow of structure.
6
The number six emerges from both forms. Six sides. Six directions. A balanced system.
Natural Proportion
Natural Proportion. We follow proportion found in nature. Instead of relying on arbitrary angles and dimensions, we align with ratios that repeat throughout natural systems. The golden ratio and golden angle guide our forms. This creates a sense of harmony that is felt, even when not consciously recognized.
Sound & Growth
Sound & Growth We are exploring the relationship between sound and biological growth. Early research suggests that certain frequencies may influence mycelial development and yield. The FOREST FLOOR development group, together with our community, is actively experimenting in this space. Future versions of Model 101 may include an optional sound system designed for this purpose.
